Hear about an FE college that has halved the time it takes a work-based learner to obtain qualifications (at Level 2 and Level 3) and make a good impression on local businesses. The learners spend more time at work and still have fun and enjoy themselves. The quality of the training is as good, if not better with more opportunity for practical skills training.

The secret is to deploy technology smoothly to give access to learners to all the college assets and resources with full support both from their employer and college staff. Employers that make this work are those who have a commitment to learning and have the experience to support them.

Colleges that make this work are those who have good relationships between IT departments and faculties and who have a commitment to technology with a willingness to open up their internal systems to local employers.  The end result seems to be more relevant learning, better quality, more fun for students, faster learning.

Listen to Vanessa Horrocks of VIP Hair Ltd and Sue Reynolds of Walsall College to find out how this is done and what a local employer thinks about the service.
